Appointments
For health and safety reasons it is important that we know who is in the building at any time. All patients and visitors must report to reception on arrival at the surgery and remain in the waiting room until called.
For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.
This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.
friendly accredited
GP practice
We are an Armed Forces veteran friendly accredited GP practice
This means that, as part of the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, we have a dedicated clinician who has a specialist knowledge of military related health conditions and veteran specific health services.
This is important in helping ex-forces to get the best care and treatment.
If you are ex-forces, please let your GP or Nurse know to help ensure you are getting the best possible care.

Pharmacy & Self-Care
Pharmacy
Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can offer clinical advice, over the counter medicines and their use, to effectively and safely manage a range of minor health concerns. They can also help you to decide whether you'll need to see a doctor. You don't need an appointment and you won't even be asked to make a purchase. Every pharmacy also has a private consultation area for you to talk about your symptoms in private if you prefer.
Self-Care
Help and support available from many National and Local Organisations
Urgent (Emergency) appointments for today or tomorrow
Important
We can only offer a limited number of 'Emergency Appointments' and these are only for a serious, urgent medical need.
If you urgently need to contact a member of the medical team, please contact reception and your call will be directed appropriately.
Appointments are bookable on the day from 8am.
Consultations are by appointment and are for one person only. If additional members of your family need to be seen please make a separate appointment. If you consider your consultation requires additional time please let the receptionist know.
We appreciate that illness can be unpredictable and if you feel that your problem is an emergency and you need to be seen on the same day then please ring and discuss this with our administration team who will do their best to assist you. This may mean you receive a call back from a clinician to discuss the problem further or you may be offered an 'Emergency Appointment' that day.
How to book

Book a Routine Appointment
Some routine appointments are bookable up to two weeks in advance.
If you routinely need to contact a member of the medical team, please leave a detailed message with the receptionist and an appropriate member of the team will contact you as soon as it is possible.

Ways to book
Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.
Travel Vaccinations

Home Visits
Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.
If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10am.
Telephone: 01268 727736
Please give an indication of the urgency should be given to the receptionist in order that the house call list can be planned.
Home visits should only be undertaken if the patient is housebound or if the doctor feels that visiting the surgery would worsen the medical condition. Children who are ill are unlikely to come to any harm if they are brought to the surgery and will be seen much sooner than waiting for a house call.
Very often patients seen at home are unable to be examined fully and require further tests that need to be done at the surgery.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Further Information
There are some important steps you can take to help us meet this aim:
- When you ring to make your appointment it is very helpful if you can tell our administration team the nature of your visit.
- This allows them to ensure that you are seen by the most appropriate clinician to help you; and can often result in a more timely appointment.
- Many of our clinicians have different areas of special interest and expertise.
- Please remember that all our staff work to the same principles of patient confidentiality.
- Each appointment slot is for one patient and ideally for one problem.
- If you feel you may need more time please make us aware so that we can accommodate this where possible.
- If you have a list of problems then please feel free to discuss this with the clinician so that you can agree a priority order in how to deal with these at the start of your appointment.
- It may be necessary to schedule further appointments to deal with those problems that are less urgent.
- Please feel free to express a preferred practitioner when making your appointment.
- However, do bear in mind that this may lead to a longer wait for that appointment.
- Patients late for their appointments may not be seen and will need to make another appointment, or they may need to wait in surgery until a slot is available.
The clinicians do try to run to time but the nature of the work means that occasionally we will be delayed. We will try to keep you informed if this happens. Please do try to be patient with us.
Change or Cancel an Appointment
